Year 1 – Opening the Eyes of Your Spirit

$1,197.00 Original price was: $1,197.00.$0.00Current price is: $0.00.

In Year 1, we laid the foundation: learning what it means to walk in koinonia, real fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Now we build on that. Year 2 is about taking everything we discovered about our connection to Jesus, the Father, and the Spirit — and letting it become even more real, even more woven into daily life.

Here’s the truth we’ll be leaning into: God isn’t something we observe from a distance, like a spectator watching a screen. He’s present and active, and our relationship with Him is meant to be interactive — through pictures, dreams, visions, spiritual discernment, and prophetic moments, around the clock, every day of the year. We’ll dig into what Scripture means when it says our spirit is joined with God’s Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17–19), and we’ll practice actually living from that union, not just believing it exists.

This year also opens the door to something new: dreams. Here’s something most people don’t realize — every single person dreams for at least an hour and twenty minutes each night. The dreaming isn’t the hard part. Remembering it is the skill we’ll be building together.

Samuel’s Mantle – Year One

Opening the Eyes of Your Spirit!

Samuel’s Mantle is designed as a journey—building one level of understanding upon another, much like building a house. Before you can build the walls, you need a strong foundation. Then come the floors, walls, and roof, followed by the windows, doors, and electricity that bring the house to life.

Year One is that foundation.

Opening the Eyes of Your Spirit is an invitation to discover how God speaks, how we can learn to recognize His voice, and what can either help or hinder our ability to receive from Him. Through biblical teaching, practical exercises, discussion, and personal discovery, students are equipped to grow in their relationship with God and become more aware of the ways He communicates.

Who Can Hear God?

The priesthood of all believers is a well-established truth in the Church—but what about the prophetic gifting?

We readily recognize that pastors and teachers are gifted and called by God, yet we understand the importance of training and preparation for those who carry these responsibilities. Why, then, do we sometimes assume that prophetic gifting requires no training?

Year One explores what Scripture teaches about hearing from God and developing spiritual gifts. Rather than simply assuming that “if it is God, it should come naturally,” we examine the biblical model of learning, growing, practicing, and becoming mature in the ways we receive from Him.

What Blocks Us From Hearing?

If we are all invited to hear and respond to God, why can it sometimes feel so difficult?

We explore the difference between our soul—our mind, will, and emotions—and our spirit, and consider how our experiences, culture, upbringing, beliefs, and worldview shape the way we perceive God and the world around us.

Sometimes the greatest barrier isn’t that God isn’t speaking—it is that we have learned to interpret everything through a particular lens.

Paradigms: Seeing Beyond What We Already Know

How much do our paradigms influence the way we see life?

Throughout Scripture, God often communicated through dreams, visions, symbols, signs, and stories that challenged people’s existing understanding. Jesus Himself frequently used parables and symbolic language that required people to look beyond their assumptions.

We examine how our own expectations and worldviews can influence what we see and hear—and how God can use symbolic language to invite us beyond familiar ways of thinking.

The Puzzle: Learning to Understand God’s Language

In Acts 10:9–16, Peter receives a vision that challenges everything he thought he understood. The vision doesn’t immediately make sense. Peter has to wrestle with the symbolism, confront his paradigms, and eventually discover what God is saying.

Peter’s experience gives us a powerful picture of how God can communicate in ways that require us to pause, ask questions, and seek understanding.

Through this teaching, students begin learning how to recognize and interpret the ways God may communicate through symbolic language.

Following the Signs

What is a sign? Are we supposed to look for them?

We explore the biblical role of signs and discover how God can communicate through the events and circumstances surrounding us.

Using the picture of God as the Great Author, we examine the flow of His story—including timelines and patterns—and learn to recognize connections between Scripture, history, current events, and our own lives.

What might God be highlighting in the everyday moments around us?

Faith: A Relationship, Not an Emotion

Faith isn’t simply a feeling. It is a relationship of trust with God.

Students receive practical guidelines for stepping out in faith and learn how faith becomes a doorway into deeper intimacy with God. We explore the biblical use of journaling and the imagination as tools for engaging with God and continuing further into the “temple” of His presence.

Discernment: Learning to Recognize What We Are Seeing

Discernment is more than simply knowing whether something is “good” or “bad.”

We explore practical guidelines for developing discernment, including learning to distinguish between someone who may be dangerous and someone who is simply wounded. Students are given opportunities to practice discernment and develop greater sensitivity to what is happening beneath the surface.

Burden Bearing: Understanding What We Carry

Some people seem to carry burdens from an early age.

We explore how family dynamics, life experiences, and unresolved issues can shape the way we respond to the world around us. Students examine patterns, protective mechanisms, and signs of unredeemed areas in our lives—and discover pathways toward greater freedom, health, and wholeness.

Dealing With Personal Pain

What is God’s biblical model for dealing with our emotions?

Rather than ignoring, suppressing, or being controlled by our emotions, we explore the process of allowing God to bring healing and cleansing to our emotional lives. Students are invited to understand how God can restore healthy emotional awareness and bring freedom to places that have been shut down by pain.

An Introduction to Dreams

Dreams are one of the ways God has used throughout Scripture to communicate.

In this introduction to dreams, we explore symbolic language, the spiritual significance of dreams, and how dreams can connect us with what God is revealing. We also consider what it means to encounter Jesus in our dreams and how to begin approaching dreams with biblical wisdom and discernment.

Building a Foundation for a Life of Hearing God

Year One is not about simply learning information. It is about learning to see differently.

As students work through these foundational principles, they begin to recognize the ways their own worldview, experiences, emotions, and assumptions can affect how they receive from God. They are given practical tools to grow in discernment, faith, symbolic understanding, and spiritual awareness.

This is the beginning of the journey—opening the eyes of your spirit and laying a strong foundation for everything that follows.

This class is hosted by Catch the Fire Okanagan, beginning Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM Pacific Time.

This class will be held entirely online through Zoom, making it possible to join us from wherever you are!

Each week, we will watch the pre-recorded Samuel’s Mantle teaching together during our Zoom class. Murray Dueck will also join us periodically to teach and connect with the class.

Available by Donation

We want to make this class accessible to as many people as possible, so Year One is available by donation.

Registration

Registration will remain open until October 26, 2026. After that date, we will be too far into the course for new students to easily catch up.

There is one exception: If you know someone already participating in the class and they are willing to help you get caught up, you may still be able to join after the registration deadline. Your friend would need to walk you through the classes and help you get up to speed before joining the current material.

Connecting & Prayer

Most weeks, we will also use Zoom breakout rooms to give you an opportunity to connect with a smaller group, build relationships, share, and pray together.

Save Your Spot

Please register to save your spot in the class.

Once you are registered and we get closer to our September 14 start date, we will send you the Zoom link. The same Zoom link will be used each week, so you won’t need a new link for every class.

We’d love to have you join us for this journey of Opening the Eyes of Your Spirit!
